Stalking Randy

Much love to the PDawg and his crew for hosting a Randy B Q. Good seeing our friend who has left us for Golden State. Met Randy’s lady and she seemed pretty nice, and I’m sure – tolerant.

Saw Steven and Melissa and the beautiful Mia. They seem like proud and incredibly happy parents. That's how it should be.

Actually had two bbq’s to go to on Sat but I blew off the one and went kinda late to the other. I’m a selfish fuck but then, who didn’t know that?

Friday I received one of those slap-in-the face moments that come every once in a while with the rock. Thanks to everyone for coming to see bigDrag on Friday. Unfortunately all your money went to Nyco who were good but I liked them less after I found out they had a guaranteed contract (just like Kerry Wood) and they were slated to get everything and then some from whatever the joint could pay them.

Shit.

After I calmed down I decided not to seek retribution on the band’s touring vehicle. Performing an act of mayhem on the property of bands who have screwed my band used to be my modus operandeeeee. I would consider my non-action Friday night as a sign of maturity.

That is so sad for me.

Really I think getting screwed on Friday is worth it if there are more (and better) shows forthcoming from John U and Kickstand.

Pre-Randy-B-Q Saturday hours were spent swimming away my hangover with the boy. The way the pool fence and giant slides cut the sky…it was magnificent. Alex and I played a lot of Aquaman vs. Sub Mariner and actually did some fighting underwater. We spent most of our time underwater yesterday and our eyes were pretty fucked up after it was over. Fun.

Had a one length race with Kim and she kicked my ass. She is amazing in the water and I am so proud of her. Great day and everything helped me put the previous night’s disappointment in the proper context.

I wish I could have been there but I was attending my friend Tom's bachelor party. It was quite the blow out. There are things that happened last night that I will never be able to speak of fir the rest of my life. Isn't that how bachelor parties are supposed to go?

Still, I wish I had done nice stuff and harassed Randy with you guys instead. Randy always makes me feel better about my level of cursing.

Sorry... The wife was logged in. So, let me say (as me), "Bastards!!!"

Randy was on good behavior.

Apparently bigSoda is on good behavior as well. When my wife is still logged on, I create all sorts of trouble

Fine. Next time we hear Nyco's gonna play, we'll make a shirt for the boy that says NYCO DOESN'T SHARE. And I'm sure you know what an injustice that is among the elementary crowd.

Well, I hope all three people that came to see them had a good time.

sorry, i'm siding with Nyco on this one. guarantees are the only thing to keep you going on tour. if you can get one, TAKE IT.

jeanz & Mark thanks for coming out to the rock show. Grant, Nyco left with exactly what they came with (which should make them feel very fortunate)

Tom, all due respect and love, I am not a professional musician by any stretch of the imagination, I am only a professional douchebag.

Honestly, I know that I have never been organized enough (or my shit good enough) to get to do any sort of meaningful tour...but that's what fuels assholes like me.

Nobody likes getting dicked and made to feel like you are small time. It might be more of an insecurity thing.

I really liked Nyco's music and on one level I respect them for having their shit together and being able to tour.

On another level, i resent them for having their shit together and being able to tour.

That's just me.

To your last point Tom, if we can ever get a guarantee - WE ARE TAKING IT!

if we play a local show with a touring band we know are not getting a guarantee we usually give them our take - unless they are douchebags...hopefully you'll never play here!

Ed, you might not remember this, but the Ambersons used to get guaranteed money (unless we broke mic stands or bled/puked/spilled on the carpet or drank more than our free allotment of booze). I don't begrudge Nyco the guarantee but I do NOT like the door guy whining about where the money will come from. Since we didn't guarantee Nyco money, it's NOT OUR PROBLEM if they didn't draw at all.

to seek retribution on the band’s touring vehicle

Much you have learned, young padawan.
