Thanksgiving Prayer Final Edit
Merciful God,
We ask for your blessing on this day of prayer and Thanksgiving.
We give thanks for that which we have already received in this year.
We thank you for the years and the holidays we had with our beloved Leet.
Although we miss her at this table we are grateful for the gift she was to all who knew her.
We are thankful that the hospice service helped her make it safely and gently home to you.
We thank you for the gentle soul who cared for your son, my uncle.
We pray that he is in your care now.
You have blessed us with the Newman Center priests and we thank you for Mssgr Nelson, Fr.’s Hart and Godwin.
May their wisdom continue to bring us closer to you.
Thank you for all the charitable workers in our community.
We give thanks for all those who serve our country – in both military and civilian offices.
Please guide them and give them some share of your wisdom.
You have blessed our son Alex with wonderful teachers especially DB and KP.
Finally thanks for the family you have gathered at this table.
This can be the best time in life, as we hold you close in our hearts – bind this family together and make it a sign of your love.
In your son Jesus Christ’s Holy Name we pray - Amen.

I've been checking the site every couple of days or so for the last few weeks, so I don't know how I missed your Thanksgiving post, but I did.
Just want to say that the message is great and I appreciate that you wear your heart on your sleeve.
I don't know who Leet was (grandmother, aunt, sister, friend?) But whoever she was (and is) she must be someone special. May God bless her and keep her until the folks who love her get to meet her again, and the rest of us get to find out all about her.
I further second all your thanksgivings.
I know this post of yours is old news now, so I don't know if you'll even see this. But it was written all the same.
God bless you and yours, and I wish you a belated Happy Thanksgiving.
