Cool As Ass
I am constantly in a state of pooping my pants these days…
AND I’M OVER THE STOMACH FLU!
I’m so desperate to give myself some different sounding uh, guitar sounds for Friday night I’m bringing out the Goya.
Not that Goya YOU SICK BASTARDS!
…my 11 string open tuning Martin Korean style Goya.
And there will be only 11 strings on that guitar until the last of our boys comes home from, uh…wherever they are.
You know I talk the big talk about having all these songs.
And I do have all these songs.
But I usually just play them in my basement.
Sometimes I bring them to band practice but if you heard how crappy they were before the boys get a hold of them…yikes.
There are a lot of ‘Let’s never speak of that again’ moments or other sorts of awkwardness because that’s how wobbly the songs are at first.
I am playing tons of new shit and covers that before a few days ago I didn’t dream of doing.
My friend PDawg told me he always tells himself before a show “Why did I do this to myself?”
I hope that was coherent and I didn’t misrepresent you PDawg. Maybe he was just saying it about letting me play the one show I got to play with him.
Be that somewhere else…I never have that feeling…or at least never with bigDrag or the floatingBasement.
bigDrag has all these miles and all these gigs and we know this shit cold and the only surprise is did we get that feeling?…unspoken communication thing or not. It comes and goes and is beyond our control. If not it’s a bummer but there’s next time. If we did it’s like scoring smack.
Did I say that?
I meant eating crack.
NOT THAT!
OK, maybe that.
With the floatingBasement I honestly felt like we were the greatest band in the world and nobody could touch us on stage or off.
That was mostly because nobody wanted to touch us on stage or off.
I’m sounding like a whining crybaby. I want to play this show, I need to play this show. I need to do more solo stuff because ultimately it helps bigDrag. I can sort out my stuff that I want to work on with the band and keep going with other songs I like when we have downtime.
And bigDrag has downtime. We’re four busy boys always going in different directions. Two daddies…and Devin and I ain’t no Charlie Sheen and the other guy
I don’t know what that means.
This will probably be my last post before the rock show. I wanted to talk some baseball – already feeling the fire coming from MeatHead and the Sultan. Just wait until we get the passion and fury from an Official Grant Miller. Butt alas – nothing springs to mind at the moment.
One bit of good news…even though the show Friday at the House has a $6 cover (I can’t give anybody $6 dollars worth of anything)…I am going to have tons of free shit to give away including the original Magnificent Ambersons demo tape made for us by these stoners in Wheeling. Alex and I (not my 5 year old – don’t go calling the DCFS on my DCF-ASS)…you know the Alex – we had so much fun going up to their pressing plant. It took us hours to find it and hours to find our way out if I remember correctly – and there is no way I should remember correctly.
It has one of my favorite live recordings of the band, it has the punk Celine and is truly priceless in that it is literally worth nothing.
It has the PO box Chris B got in the divorce from Rod Almighty and me and Bill’s old phone number for the 3rd Street apartment. No incomplete Ambersons collection is complete without it.
I hear if you call that old phone number the Tommy TuTone guy will thank you for buying his record.
