Beauty and Darkness

Fun night last night. Thanks and much love to the familes that came out and filled our house with fun and laughter for New Year's Eve.

Enjoying being a fat and dopey slug today.

On the recommendation of Bill Garver I saw True Grit this afternoon. The Coens' film echoes what I have always believed about America. Her landscapes are high and magnificent. The people are driven and nearly insane.

Some day, you all should drive across country on I80 to visit out here- the differences in the landscapes are absolutely amazing and there's some particularly breathtaking views. I haven't been up or down the coast yet nor have a crossed the country the other direction by the southern route (can't recall the interstate right now) but I'm hoping we will some day.

We had a great time, too. I usually don't like NYE.

Also, I think Route 30 touches both coasts.
