Not Guilty....uh, did we say not guilty because we meant GUILTY!

…and in a bitter twist of irony, former Governor Ryan was convicted on so many counts of corruption, he received the death penalty.

By the way, does this mean I have to give my truck license back?

Pipe burst in our basement. Pictures of me and Alex on cleanup duty are coming. As far as burst pipes go this one was not so bad. There was some flooding but no water in my office, no water on some of the old guitars and musical crap, and the water stopped just short of the kids’ pirate costumes we bought for Alex’s birthday. Last night after dinner, I told the kid he could have extra TV time because daddy was going to watch the SOX downstairs and clean up the basement. It was a yucky job and he didn’t have to do it after being at school all day.

Alex said: “But dad, this is my house too.”

We ended up having lots of fun. Every time we took a break and went in my office to check on the SOX, something good happened. Not that superstition is an important part of baseball, but DAMMIT MR. JERRY R. – PLEASE DON’T MAKE JOE CREDE GET A HAIRCUT!

I picked up a blender that got a bit of a soaking. We made a whole bunch of Brandy A’s with that thing. I looked at the waterlogged blender and said: “A thousand hangovers down the drain.”

Alex: “What did you say daddy?”
Me: “Nothing kid, it’s something that Dean Martin said once.”
Me again: “Don’t grow up to be like Dean Martin.”

Yikes ... homeowner headaches ... but the good part is that Alex seems to be over the plague if he went to school. M always wants to help w/chores & such too - I expect that will change when he's actually capable of doing them himself, but for now it's awfully sweet.

Did you blast "Lost in the Flood" while you cleaned up?

Dear Mr. Poshard,
I am a dumb-ass. I liked you, I really did. You seemed like an honest, righteous man. I even agreed with you on a lot of issues. But you had that damn "D" next to your name. I am not alone - I represent a lot of IL voters. We got what we deserved. You warned us. I'm sorry. CM

That whole basement ordeal sounds horrible. And it sounds like you managed to keep your cool. I probably would've kicked the dog. CM

One of the great (not to say only) honors of my sordid rock "career" was playing the rally for Poshard at Daley Plaza. Met some fantastic old school "D"s from Southern Illinois. Actually I was very greatful for that "D" next to his name. He was the last major "D" in IL who, because of his position on abortion, suggested that there was some small chance that there would be an open tent among the "D"s on this issue. It slammed shut pretty quickly after (and in some ways, during) the run for the Gov's mansion (but its on the way back).

Ultimately this stuff is why I do NOT vote on right to life issues or "D"s or "R"s next to the names of candidates. Pardon the expression, but it seems like up is down and black is white when it comes to the silly little "D"s and "R"s. Sorry William T. Shakespeare.

"D"s have become something of the dogmatic ideologues they have always despised on American cultural issues, they are trying to change that, but in the absence of honest men who actually posess the values of a Poshard - they seem disingenuious at best.

"R"s have brought dishonor and disgrace to the American military and they're now spending so much they make former (very short term S. O. da House Jim Wright - gosh its been so long I forgot how to spell it) look like a fiscal conservative. Not to mention the blue ties and flip flops. That makes them look like bigger tools than they are.

"Lost in the Flood" is a Springsteen song from his first album. Showed the sorta flair that earned him the title of "The New Dylan."

Hold up, are you talking about the shoes? Becauyse when you showed up to the Pizzi-Kazz wedding in that suit and those sandals, I thought that was a ballsy, ultracool look (the "dot-com millionaire"). I'm still impressed!

At any rate its stuck with me lo these many years.

As for govs, I would've liked to have seen Paul Vallas instead of this genius we got now.

I meant the fucking flip flops they used at their no class National Convention in 2004. Whatever dignity D-Chain had left his body as he presided over the biggest flip-flop display - - lambasting the opponent. Whether Kerry deserved it or not, that was low class behavior on the part of the president's party...and ultimately unnecessary when we see how the election turned out.

The K-Rover crowd totally out-strategized (what am I, Don King?) the "D"s who out-spent the "R"s in Ohio - where the election was won. Putting the Veep in front of those flip-flops going back and forth with the chant - well I guess it set the tone (low that is) for the four years that followed (is it four years yet???).

I love that g bushy and his handlers wanted to focus on his decisiveness. How decisive was he with N.O.? Had he made America safer since 2001? We are less safe seeing where our forces, resources and general ability of the federal government to help the people - where all that stuff is.

I really am not a "D". Some people say that, but in the elections that count - here in DeKalb County - I vote for "D"s and "R"s all the time. My vote for the "D" in the presidential election of 2004 (and I never admit shit like this) - but based on the notion that g bushy's top dogs played politics with the war, took 9/11 as a "teachable moment" Wolvvvvawitless' words - not mine - fucking liars.

And they didn't even demonstrate how they could be decisive in the 2nd term. There was a disaster on the ground, a city is down. Say whatever you want about the wisdom of building or re-building the city where it is - where was the president who's leadership should be trusted in a time of crisis? You might want to say, how do you know what Kerry would do in N.O.? Let me respond thusly:

MY STUDENTS WERE IN NEW O. BEFORE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

liars

Oh, that's what I meant about the blue ties and the flip-flops
