Why Do I Care?
I’m not a big media basher – but even the day after, overnight numbers for the stupid Eagles game are making news on sports radio. I’ve got to hear how that stupid game and its stupid sideshow blew away the baseball ratings on FOX. Why do I care about this?
Wait, I don’t. I am no longer Mr. Mom. I now have the strength to turn off sports radio when it pisses me off. If I don’t want to hear the 24 hour coverage of the Joe Torre firing vs. retention saga I can turn it off. If I don’t want to hear about the things a 2 or a 3 receiver has to say…I can turn it off.
I’m sort of proud that I don’t understand why there is this new obsession with NFL power ratings. I thought everyone hated college football. What does that douche bag Chris Berman always say “That’s why they play the games.”
By the way all praise to the NBC America Football nightly thing replacing Prime Time as THE highlight show. I love ESPN as much as anyone, but Berman and Jackson – that shit is playyyyyed out.
Do I have anything better to talk about?

I've watched one MNF so far. Not enough Tony K. They need to cut everybody else out of the box and stick and him and Wilbon in there.
Dude, nobody gave a rat's ass about the power rankings until the BEARS WERE NUMBER ONE ON ALL OF THEM!!!! Now it's the most prescient list in the land!! Totally relevant!
p.s. - I can't stand NBC's coverage of football. Boring and bush league (to quote Ron Burgundy).
p.p.s. - there are only a handful of games on the weekend, then hours and hours and hours of pre-paid radio airwaves to fill. The actual games and stats only get you so far and then you have to dig. TO makes you not have to dig so far if you're a segment producer. Sports radio is no different than the news in general.

I've always read the Sports Illustrated NFL Power Rankings just 'cause I like Dr. Z (the SI guy, not the Chrysler guy). It's just nice to see one of my teams in the top half of the rankings.
I guess that the Chrysler guy is okay too.
MNF is horrible. I still say they should have gotten Hank III to do the intro.
I also think that the plan for NFL network to start showing games on thursdays and saturdays sucks.
Fridays are for High School.
Saturdays are for College.
Sundays are for NFL.
Get it straight!
See, I think Tom-O is on to something - the NFL may be in the business of fucking up a good thing...so long as they do it after the Bears with the Super Bowl this year - I'm ok with that.
