Maybe It Just Looks Small from Here

It amuses me to no end to remind people that some opponents of the US Constitution (at the time of its writing) took the position that it created a government that was too big and unwieldy. Two hundred plus years later, the opponents of big government think the same Constitution is the only thing that can restore our sanity and save us from big government.

Apparently big government can get smaller with the passage of time.

Big business is what concerns me more. Big government, at least in theory, works for us. Big business works for profits. We are incidental, even as employees and customers. And, as always, big business has big (and small) government at rapt attention.

I wonder if we the people...whatever people at whatever point in human history have always been, as you say, "incidental" when it comes to the schemes of the great (not saying good) leaders whether they are Genghis Khan or a guy who owns a chain of Genghis formal-wear

Our regime sort of did a lot to get us to think that we the people count and we the people are the source of good government

I don't know what any of this means...just a thought - a dark thought
