Nothing But Fun

Friday Sept 23

Kim and I started our day at 4:30am, we got home from the city at 11:30pm and in between was nothing but fun.

Worked, picked up the boy from school while mom was loading the Rav. Then we drove to the SOX game. We were supposed to provide tailgating amenities for Kim's folks and Auntie Chris. Let's just say the food portion of the plan was disaster and I blame myself...but that's a mini-propane tank story for another day.

The game went worse for the SOX than the food preparation for our tailgating. Now that's ugly. They can't blame me for that one. The one bright spot in the whole evening came from who else, Paul Konerko. The Royals' hurler had a one hitter going (not the good kind) until Paulie (who has driven in a run in every SOX game Alex has attended) took one out of the park in the late innings getting the SOX their second, and last hit of the evening and scoring their lone run. Go Paulie!

Even the SOX 11-1 drubbing at the hands of the suck-ass Royals couldn't get me down. Fun and many laughs with Auntie Chris and Kim's p's. Al loaned us his chainsaw and we got some hilarious pics of Alex holding it in front of the SOX park. That's what happens when DeKalb comes to the South Side and the boy's favorite team gets crushed.

Stuck in traffic heading out of the city. Kim, Alex and I enjoyed a skyline view of the best summer city in the world as we waited to exit it. Came home and Kim rewarded me for staying awake and not killing our family driving home. She did up the brats the old school way and I enjoyed a glass of Jameson and two PBRS. We had a nice talk and hang out time into the early morning hours. Great day!

Saturday Sept 24

Met our friends the Smiths at St. Mary's Septemberfest. It was the perfect plan, the parents hang out, drink beer and talk in the beer tent and the kids have fun in the carnival. They always come back to check in/ask for money. My father-in-law summed it up best when he heard about our Saturday: "The Catholics know how to party."

Sunday Sept 25

Thanks and much love to Rick and Michelle for hosting the Posegas for a swell Sunday afternoon of football...a delicious meal and the only bad taste left in my mouth was from left by the Bears' offense.

They'll get straight against the Panthers, but they are not in the same class as the Pack.

We had some fun backyard football with the boys. Then Alex and I had to split for his new round of trumpet lessons. Great to see Garth again.

Monday Sept 26 Someone Bring in a Grown Up

Came in to work from 7am to 9am to clear boxes and paperwork from my desk. Took 6hrs of vacation time and did some editing on TINAM, worked on bills and did some other grown up shit that needed to be done.

I wish someone would bring in a grown up to do it.
