Gimme A
…fucking faith based something or other.
While Karl Rove deserves the scorn and infamy heaped on him since the “The Math” comment and what he did to Republican campaigns across America in the past midterm election…
…and while I think what he and his co-conspirators did to serious (but naïve) religious believers with their bullshit appeal to faith are part of all things that are wrong with America…
The Supreme Court proceedings today with taxpayers arguing for the right to argue against faith based initiatives are a big part of what I love about this country. Scalia was supposed to have been in rare form today.
Lots of back and forth about bagels and breakfast.
I guess the Justices were hungry.
Probably a bit cold too, what with being naked under those robes…
Scalia in general seems to be less miserable these days now that he no longer has to answer stupid questions about international law and interpreting the Constitution.
Well, he doesn’t have to answer those sorts of questions every day.
He’s gonna have to answer them again soon.
Nino seems to be in love with being Nino again and is not looking for ways to get out.
I am not a big court watcher so I am probably the worst person to believe on these things.
We had some celebrity news in our neck of the woods. His daughter got busted drinkin’ and drivin’ in Wheaton. She must’ve come from pretty far away.
Pathetic, I’ve been reduced to ‘no booze in Wheaton jokes’
Sadly, only Jim Belushi is laughing.
Baaaad Bobby Jenks threw nine pitches today. Yikes!
A student of mine who is a real die-hard Sox fan said Bobby looked baaaaad.
Buehrle and Garland…double-yikes!
The Cubs are stretching out Neil Cotts (ewww) in the hopes that he may compete for the 5th starter spot. I wish him well, but for some weird reason it will be harder to see him as a starter than to come from the bullpen for the north-siders.
One thing about Santo that I cannot deny, he has contributed to this baseball renaissance in Chicago. I don’t even like the guy, I didn’t want to talk about him but I can’t deny that the sport I love has gotten a big short in the arm (insulin?) from his radio broadcasts, his story and part in Cub history and his persona. By the way, there is a sense in which Santo not making the Hall of Fame is part of Chicago baseball lore. It is easy for me to say because I have nothing really invested in Santo-fandom (Praise be Allah) but one man’s tragedy is another man’s punch line.
I’d just like someone to ask fucking Joe Morgan: “Joe, do you think Santo has a leg to stand on with his bid to get into the Hall of Fame?”
That’s truly terrible and I am not sorry.

You never need to be sorry for Santo jokes. I think that is why everyone love the guy. He is a frickin mess, gots no legs sets his hair on fire and all the other crap that comes from beating the odds.
The thing is he always bounces back and has a great attitude. He knows that in many ways he is a walking joke and he like to laugh right along with it.
I only really know him from non playing days. So the clicking of the heels and what not is something I only really hear about. Maybe he did it becuase he knew he one day wouldn't have them and it was fun. I don't know why he did and I really don't know why it seems to piss people off so much.
All I know is that it seems when you listen to him on the radio and the Cubs are blowing it. No one says like Ronny and no one could capture how a Cub fan feels like Santo.
Sorry for the bad grammar and spelling. Did comment on fly by and didn't proof.
Wow, sometimes my post hurt my brain to reread.
Go Cubs!
And I will stop beating the horse, unless some one pissed me off again but article sums up nicely why he deserves it. Baseball is more than a game and what happens at the park.

What kind of articles do we find about Rose these days?
You completely miss the point of the exercise (HOF voting) when you allow post career personal histories to factor into the decision making process. You set a double standard whereby one player gets extra consideration (Santo, the nice cripple, Ozzie Smith, etc.) over another with a less media-friendly demeanor (Jim Rice, Andre Dawson), and that's wrong. Thank (Ed's) god for sabermetrics and the objectivity it provides.
The problem is humans are making the decisions and there are people in HOF that have sub numbers to Santo. If it is all about what you did while in baseball how did they squeak by this fool proof process.
If I truly thought it was always about the numbers and you stacked em up against everyone already in and he fell short then... there is no argument. Lindstrom, Hafey and Evers to name a few but they were one year wonders at best. I am sure there are more but that was a quick search of all the HOF’s. I mean Lindstrom was as good as Santo after they took the first leg.
Just being up for consideration for 15 YEARS means he is worthy of the HOF. I mean if it’s a bunch of douche bags year after year talking about the same fucking guy! How much mental masturbation do these mental midgets need?
Again why I said they should tell him NO or change the fucking rules to be more what you are asking for.
You must bat X average for X years, you must steal X bases, you must get X hits, you must get X home runs, ect ect. If you have a combination of said statistics it can lower anyone stat buy 10% per combined stat.
I am emotional right about this and not making the best arguments. The funny thing is my arguments for him to be in are better than anyone’s for him to not be out. As much as I couldn’t stand Buck they did him a disservice by waiting for him to die.
I think they should make the votes public. These douche bags make money off of the fans. I want to know who didn’t vote for Santo.
Then if that prick comes around trying to make a buck off the fans. We can boycott the douche bags.
um, I think Joe Morgan claimed somewhere that he voted for Santo.
EdP-see my blog......Santo?
He should be doing tampon commercials but he has always acted like one
I recall saying I thought his numbers were good enough. As far as a minimum statistical threshold for enshrinement, it would be impossible due to the diverse requirements of each position. Sandberg wouldn't even sniff the Hall if he were a first baseman. Be happy for the subjectivity the voters provide, even if you don't agree with them every time.
Normally I really could care less what a bunch of x-athletes do to jerk each other off. For the most part there are HOFers and then there are HOFers. I don’t think it should be the way I stated. I think you should also take in to account what they did for there sport. HOFer’s should measure there impact on the game not just there ability to play.
Just like humans it’s a flawed voting system and we probably like it that way for the drama. Hell the HOFer’s could be creating the drama because there old and bored for all we know. We really should make it a public vote. I bet you would see people vote a hell of a lot smarter if you are held accountable for your vote.
It has been a bad year for Chicago first Dent gets the snub and then Santo. I really only care about people I grew up on and got my passion for sports. I am still bent the Cubs got rid of Stony. I learn more about baseball from that man than any other in my life.
I also get a little fired up when I hear the people getting snubbed talk about how much it would mean to them. These awesome athletes, warriors of the sport, get reduced to trying to play politics and say it doesn’t mean anything to them. As far as I am concerned they are in my HOF but I am just a douche bag fan.
I will drop it because what’s done is done. Life sucks and it’s hard and most times it kicks you in the balls. I just hope he can be alive to make an acceptance speech, not his son.
