Vegas Has Completely Lost Its Mind
“Look at all the tits…there must be…57 tits up there.”
Sorry Steve Martin.
Somebody needs to e-mail the witness protection program and double check this with our friend Bo, but I heard that as recently as last week the Vegas odds on the Cubs winning the World Series - WINNING THE WORLD SERIES - is 7 to 1.
7 to fucking 1!!!!
Basically, what that says to me is the Cubs are chalk to win it all.
The Bears (last time I checked) were 7 to 1 odds to go to the Super Bowl again (terrible value on that bet to be sure…I think Chris got in last year when they were still 20 to 1 to win it all…great job MrB, if I am remembering correctly)
But can any sports book owner say the Cubs are as likely to win it all as the Bears are to win the NFC?
I’m sorry, I don’t hate the Cubs (barring any stupid behavior from them like last year during the first Sox games)…if they behave like they belong in the big leagues I sort of wish them well. Actually I wish their fans well…or I’d be happier for their fans than their fucking franchise if they had a good run.
Sorry, I got lost there. No matter what you or me or anybody thinks about Cubs, no rational thinking person can say they deserve single digit odds to win the fucking World Series. I honestly believe the Cubs are one year (or one midseason trade) away from having one of the greatest lineups in Chicago baseball history. When they get A-Rod (and become the Yankees Midwest, get ready for it Cub fans) I don’t know how any rational thinking person couldn’t consider them a cute-little-Blue poor man’s Murder’s Row…
But even when they have that lineup…the Cubs should not be 7 to 1 odds to win the World frigging series.

No. Not even close. But The sox certainly are no closer, sadly.
They gave the Yankees 3/1 and the Red Sox 5/1. So I guess they are a little off.
Remember betting odds have nothing to do with the likely hood of the team winning. That is not the purpose for the odds. The purpose is to get people betting.
The reason the odds are that way is there are enough stupid Cub fans. They will look at that and get all kool aided out and start throwing money down, on the Cubs. The Vegas fat kats laugh there asses off and then wonder if they could have done it 3 to 1 and still made as much money.
So basically they are 7 to 1 because only Cub fans think that is a good bet.
Ed, don't diminish the Sox outfielders by comparing them to the Cubs and calling it a push. It's not even close. The Sox are superior offensively and defensively in the corners while the Cubs have a decided edge offensively in center (but defense.....Soriano is already proving to be a butcher out there, Sox center fielders are top notch). Expect a lot of 9-7 games if you're a Cub fan.
