No. 56

God Bless you 56 Mark Buehrle. You have thrilled baseball fans in Chicago. You are now the most accomplished pitcher in modern Chicago baseball history. Maddox is the best, but all of his major accomplishments have been in a braves uniform - The playoff run, especially the balls to the wall outing against the Angels in Game 2 of the ALCS, the win and the save in the World Series - We may be nearing the end of the wonderful, two-year WS victory lap here but thank you for tonight. Thank you for nothing.

No runs, no hits, no errors.

All guts.

He had one walk and picked him off.
27 batters faced

I am proud of Chi-town tonight! It's not my team but it's Chicago down here either way!

Go cubs!

Yea, yea, yea, what ever you guys still don’t have a chance in hell of making it to the playoffs. I thought something terrible happened around 10 or so my time last night.

My phone wouldn’t stop ringing so I finally went to find it an see what the hell was going on. It was my brother in law calling to ask me if I watched the Sox game. My answer was “ Why the fuck would I be watching the Sox. I am watching the Cubs blow another fucking game!” His response was “Buehrle just pitched a no hitter.” My response, “Fuck you!” and hung up. I am sure I will catch crap from my wife but I was in no mood.

I can see the gates of hell opening and feel the warmth of the fires. The Cubs are really some kind of demon sent by Beelzebub to suck the life out of people.

Go Beelzebub, I mean Cubs!

You do also know this is spiteful envy. I did not see the game but 106 pitches 66 K’s 40 balls and one walk. That’s fucking impressive, oh and he worked fast.

I hate baseball!

Let's not forget the significance of the one walk - Sosa - and Buerhle (sp?) caught him lolligagging. While it cost him a perfect game, it still seems like the cherry on top.

Santi- the Great Greek (not his nickname) got the last no no in Chicgo, no? 40 years ago?

I know the last one from the SOX was Wilson Alvarez in 1991 or thereabouts, but his was on the road against the O's

MeatHead - sorry for your pain, maybe the new ownership will rid the cubs of Hendry and the big name chase mentality...the arrow is pointing up for the cubs in a lot of ways PIa can play the outfield, Hill seems to have figured some things out (boy he would be really great under the tuteledge of a Don Cooper)

Chris - it was delicious picking of Sosa...what was Sammy doing with that sort of lead of of first base? Oh, I know Buehrles is a real baseball player, Spammy is a washed-up carnival freak

How cool was it last night watching the Cubs and seeing Floyd and Barrett in the line up next to each other? All the Cubs need to do is trade Ramirez for David Wright, so you'd have Wright, Barrett and Floyd in the same lineup.

That's what I wanna see.

Whoa, I didn't think of that. Did the cubs play last night?

I haven’t really followed much of Hill’s career but he looks really good so far. I like the way the always click to him when he is sitting the dug out. He appears to always be smiling and cracking jokes. I have noticed the same with Ramirez. It may just be me but it seems like they are having more fun this year than in previous years.

I am not going to go full on kewlaid but maybe there is hope. The team seems to be hustling even if the hitting is off. I hope they are just getting their legs under them. The big series is the weekend.

Let’s hope we have red bird for breakfast, lunch and dinner this weekend.

Go Cubs!

And I was saying the Sox should lose him ASAP.

I'm such a jerk.

You are not a jerk Grant. MB may be one of my favorite SOX players of all time, but I was worried about their being too many innings on that arm and the wear and tear of the past 4 or 5 seasons would seal his fate in Chicago...

That's what great baseball players do though, they can surprise us - just when we think that the tank is empty, they find another gear

Me?

I mix metaphors.
