Hip If It Kills Me

I have got to learn more about my celebrities. A few months ago someone left a comment about Katie and Tom and I asked Kim who that was and why the person was so pissed off about them…She said “Tom is Tom Cruise dumbass!” I said “Who is Katie? Katie Curic?” My poor wife just buried her head in her hands.

Now thanks to KO and Countdown I can bone up on my celeb news daily. To those of you who know this stuff, you can test my fire as I take my first baby steps into the world of dishing the glitterati dirt. Let me know if this stuff is fire (Am I using fire correctly? I’ve got a feeling that I am already fucking up here).

1. Brittney can’t afford a car seat for Baby Fire.
2. Ben Affleck isn’t that famous anymore because I don’t know who his girlfriend is.
3. Tom (Cruise) is mad because his baby was only offered $3 million
4. Bradjoli Baby got 4 mildo.
5. If you are famous, you have to try to have a famous baby, give the baby a stupid celebrity baby name, and then people will forget about the famous baby.

ok, it’s a start. I think if I was a celebrity, the stupid-celebrity-baby name I would give my kid would be Shiner. Alex better thank God my screen test was crappy. The guy with the liquor and GoJo said it was a screen test. Yeah there were no cameras or anything but he said they were hidden to make everything feel more natural.

Joe Franklin raped me.

Sorry.

Great post by Ms. Aquanmanski! She is a good Cubs fan and a good baseball fan. Her baby brother can whip most of our asses at baseball (maybe with the exception of the Sultan and his bro). I want to say this in all seriousness – I will make good on the deal to go to Wrigley sometime this summer but I’m not taking my kid. Something bad is going to happen there…I can feel it. I’ve never gone to Wrigley and I am not going to back out on my promise to Mr. Lying McLiesAlot. I actually am more curious to go than ever before. I have never liked Wrigley…never thought it was a beautiful park even when the old new SOX park was so damned ugly and blue seated. I’ve been watching so much Cubs baseball this summer because it has been like watching one of those reality shows. Going to a game would make this weird season of watching shit complete. But please Trix and others who have been saying how Alex has to go to a Cubs game to see that place and have that experience – forget it. No he doesn’t, at least not this year. Alex doesn’t want anything to do with the Cubs. He’s a Tigers fan and he kinda likes the SOX (mostly just individual players) because Daddy always watches the SOX. Actually, Alex got a little chippy at Twins the other nice. He knew there was no SOX game on (we usually eat on the SOX side at Twins…very diplomatic they have Black on one screen and Blue at the other end of the bar). By the way, anyone thinking of calling DCFS, Twins is as much restaurant as bar and it’s a family joint. But anyhow, the Cubs game was on and Alex asked our waitress if they could turn off the Cubs and put on the Tigers, adding “They’re in first place you know.”

On the upside I got a par on number 7 at the Buena Vista last night. It is great golfing in the wet grass. It’s not great for my game but I love the way the rain feels on everything. We have good news on the KJ family front and we are very grateful to God and modern medicine.

Excited. Friday I am finally going to Larry’s to make more breather review copies. I also have to talk to ChrisB about getting the Me Drive Car artwork. I’ve got a 21 track thing to give away to friends etc while we are figuring out how to finish our record. I’ve had a blast compiling these tracks. I better play it for the fellas before I get too geeked up. Cousin Mike e-mailed and there is a new floating Basement track for garageband. I’ll be posting some of the entertaining reviews here.

Good job on the Celeb Fire!
Or in the words of K-Fed "You are a Brazilian ass shaker, Ed. Can I say that? Right on."

Ed - possible out for the Wrigley thing - they do stadium tours while the Cubs are out of town. They're only $25 or something and you go through the locker room, the press booth, behind the ivy, etc. It's pretty awesome, actually. I think the fee even goes to some charity.

Yeah, you told me about this Mr. B. Pretty neat. More than a few people have just said you need to give Alex the Wrigley experience...after the past month my answer is: Why? Misery dwells there. I will be going at some point this season because as enthralled as I was with the SOX rise last year - I'm almost as caught up in this Blue fuckery this year. I can't turn away. I think I need to see a game. Re the actual field itself - people like what they like and no knock on the opinions of my Cub fan friends - because I think the place holds magic for them...where they saw their first ballgame

but to me even the stadium is meh - I don't see what the big deal is...bricks and lettuce.

and those who would say 'Don't you want your kid to have a chance to choose between the teams and experiences' - seriously, I wonder who would want their children to embrace that misery...

Sultan - I fear not the death of my ego. The floating Basement are the greatest rock 'n roll band in the world (fie on Culture Club)

garageband is lucky we post our shit there.

Thanks for the affirmation kaka you raka (rock)

I know that Po Po Zao is the Brazilian ass shaker.

I am fire.

Walk with me.

And on the celebrity part of the post... Ben Afleck has been married to Jennifer Garner (from the show Alias) for over a year and they have a kid. Unfortunately for my brain cells, "My Yahoo" has the entertainment headlines so I know more than I even want to.

To get the good "Wrigley Experience" you have to sit in the bleachers. That's where the real fans go. A lot of the other parts of the park are inhabited by folks talking on cell phones about the skank they banged at the frat house the previous night. Not everyone but there are a lot of 'em. Also, it should be a day game during the week. Those are folks who ditched work to go to the game.

I'm with goo. I don't want to know shit about celebrities but I am bombarded with it constantly and lately it's all a lot of people talk about.

I believe the brain is like a glass of water. It can only hold so much. As people keep pouring in more, eventually it is going to overflow and I am going to start losing knowledge I need. I'll have to wear velcro shoes and live like the guy from Memento but I'll know who Paris Hilton is banging. Fuck.

Steener, your tolerance for crap is almost super-human. I have never met someone who reads so many fluff magazines and is still as smart as you are. You must have some sort of mental liver that filters out the crap and prevents it from doing permanent damage.

Re me and the celeb news - I just have looked so stupid in the past not knowing these people. Everybody else does, why don't I? And it's not like I am Mr Mindless Pap Free (ewww) - I am a recovering sports radio junkie - that's like about celebs that actually have some talent. I want my shit to be fire like everyone else.

uh, sorry about that.

Anyway, when I watch these people at the end of Countdown with KO I think 'They're not so bad'

I actually feel sorry for them. TomKat (I know their couple nickname now) are treated like they are aliens from beyond the moon. Granted they act a little weird for the sake of promoting their movie - but who wouldn't be a little freaky if $100+ million was on the line. Just think how their agents must be acting.

I've known some truly freaky people in my day, and people with serious mental problems - I don't know if applies to even the dippiest of our celebrity newsmakers. They're just trying to make a buck (or a bank) like the rest of us. They just have to have babies and act like crazy whores to do it.

My jobs are looking better every day.

If Kim and I were a celebrity couple would we be K-Jed?

You guys keep on taking my love over the Federline (cleverness stolen from Jethro).

Ed... It surprises me, sports traditionalist that you are, that you're not more into exposing Alex our Palex to Wrigley. After all, the Bambino's ghost still wanders in the park where he blasted that dinger that saved that sick little kid who grew up to be FDR or Mickey Dolenz, or something... The freakin' Bears used to play there, as did the Cardinals (not the Poo-Holes variety). Give the kid a chance to see history before they raze the joint and finally win a World Series (in 2064).

Edberley!!

Now that's fire.

I hear Brit may be moving back to Kentwood, LA and that when Aaron Spelling passed away earlier this week, Candy didn't even call Tori to tell her!

Do you think Suri exists?

OH THAT'S HOT!

I'm with Steener -- one of my pals hipped me to joys of celeb gossip as a way to de-clutter and de-stress the brain. Previous to her tip I snobbily distained everything related to *Stars!*

Your next assignment Ed: Purchase all three seasons of The Simple Life on DVD. I admit, I love these girls. I can't help it -- the pink, the glitter, the sparkle, the vapidness.

I'm a moth and Paris is the flame!
I'm a rock and Paris is an island!

kaka - I think I can On Demand some of the Simple Life episodes. Will I miss some of the bonus stuff if I don't buy the DVDs?

As far as reality tv - the only ones I ever tried to watch (I always forget to watch tv when sports isn't on bcuz I am stupid)...

but the only reality shows I ever tried to watch were cancelled. I watched one episode of My Big Fat Boss because I thought I don't have a fat boss, I wonder what it would really be like to have a fat boss. It wasn't about that.

Then I tried to watch Bonds on Bonds, I actually liked that, then he caught the Babe and no one gave a rat's ass. I missed the last five minutes of COuntdown last night so I am already a day behind in the world of celeb news. Dammit

bigSsda, regarding the history at Wrigley - from the Chicago point of view - isn't it the saddest history we can find? Did they even have the joint when they won it in 1908?

I never found that place to be a part of history for the fans of Chicago - unless that history was bad.

I guess my point with my beautiful boy is there are people (die hard Cubs fans) telling me I need to take Alex while he is young...but what if he gets a taste for that team? For the rest of you guys that have these wonderful memories of Wrigley you will probably always be Cub fans - that is your team and I respect that. But if there are two sides to pick from while he is young (forget what you think about the SOX) why wouldn't I choose to take him to a place where the memories are World Series wins, tight pennant races, three grand slams in a weekend, a park packed with happy fans and nationally televised games, walk-off home runs, comeback losses from 9 and 8 runs down showing the team never quits...

These are the memories of baseball I want the young Alex to have. These years would be the worst time to take my son to see Wrigley - the baseball is awful - the game that Dumpster blew the other night was some of the WORST baseball I have ever seen (and I've seen lousy baseball on both sides of town). I tell him when he is in college he will probably want to go there. I cannot deny that Wrigleyville will become the new and better New Orleans. My students love it - it's full of booze, sex appeal and all this stuff - I just hope he doesn't expect to see good baseball there.

I really feel there is no choice for me, especially since I want him to love baseball played the right way. We can all agree there is only one franchise in town that provides that experience. After 88 years of getting it mostly wrong, my favorite team of all time have chosen the perfect time in my son's life to get it right. I would be a bigger fool than I already am to expose him to this.

But bigSoda and anyone else - come comfort me as I enter the cabbaged walls of Wrigley in August (if I can get tickets)

I have to disagree with Michael about the bleachers.

There's at least a 75% frat boy representation there. That's not where the real fans are, it's where the potty-mouth drunks are.

Except me, I like to keep my drunken, potty-mouth self in the shade.

Technically now the bleachers are the Budweiser and Bud Light Bleachers aren't they?
