Don't Call It a Comeback
One of the Taliban’s leaders was interviewed by a British media service this week. Sorry about being so vague…I get a lot of news on my phone. No one will ever mistake me for the well-informed.
This person claiming to be a Taliban leader also claimed that they are now engaging in their own sort of surge.
A new suicide army of 35,000 is ready for attacks throughout Afghanistan…
Somebody crank up the Judas Priest.
Look, one point on Western media outlets interviewing those who gleefully claim to speak for and, in fact BE the enemy. Did a journalist interviewing such a person ever have the good sense to at least allow this though to run through their head?:
“Maybe I should kill this fucking bastard right here and right now.”
Oh no. We can’t kill leaders of the Taliban when they allow themselves to be interviewed. We’ll never get another interview with the Taliban.
YEAH – because they are fucking dead.
Sorry.
Where’d all this angst against the Taliban come from all of a sudden? Hey I was the guy who wanted bigDrag to be called the Taliband.
The other guys were so pissed.
I said, “If we don’t call ourselves the Taliband the terrorists have already won.”
Chris: “Ed, they’ve already won.”
Me: “That was fast.”
Chris: “Damn straight.”
Ok, that conversation never took place.
It could be a long summer baseball fans, but let me make the following pointless statements/predictions.
1. The cubs have a better chance of making the playoffs this year than my beloved SOX and not because they are a better team.
- I would still say even though Kenny dicked around with some trades that I don’t fully understand (especially the Brandon Mc thing that leaves the SOX 5th starter thing in limbo)…that given, the SOX have pitching, pitching and more pitching and pitching all over the cubs. The cubs have a better chance because the Cards are down, the Pirates are the Pirates, I’ll let the Sultan speak for his Reds, and who can believe in the Brewers???...although I’d sort of like to believe in the Brewers…
- Even though Detroit will not sneak up on teams this year, the Twins will be sniffing around everything and Cleveland could finally stop underperforming like a socially conscious mutual fund.
2. My groundless prediction: The cubs will meet the Giants in the playoffs this year and I have no idea what will happen from there. See me in October and call me a douche bag.
3. I like Girardi and I like Jon Leiber but damn, I retract all the Girardi love that’s been spewed forth in this blog. I think it was a hangover from the season I was fascinated with the Yankees and their chase of the single-season records for wins…Girardi and Posada were going back and forth I think – was that 2001? I forget? Oh, and the Liar and I drunkenly singing the praises of Girardi – although we were drunk enough to confuse him with Eric Mangini (yeah the Jets guy)…but we were D-runk. Girardi telling Leiber what his hitters were telling him about his pitches flattening out – come on, that is some stupid shit. I wouldn’t want Girardi managing a team I cheer for.
No bigDrag/Taliband practice tonight. Fucking bummed, but Kim gave the Kickstand productions guy the go-ahead. We will play the show at the Haus on Friday March 30th.
Come one, come all…
…but you better bring a sweat sock.

Ed, it's OK to show a little love to the Brew Crew. They're young, pitching rich, with a lot of talent in the pipeline. This year will be the beginning of a solid string of contending seasons. They may not be the Indians of the early 90s, but there are similarities. Predictions: Detroit will have a hangover year--their offense is not as good as it seemed. Not sure if the Twins are built for the long haul, I sense a late season fade due to youth and depth. The Tribe will contend only if their pitchers post career-type years (I'm talking to you, CC). I don't see how the Sox aren't the faves.
Well I think the line is the same for the Cubs and the Sox’s, 9/1 to win there divisions. So the bettin man would have the Cubs and Sox even money. Finally the Red Birds should suck ass and I will have great glee in pushing the bird fans to the brink of madness. I predict Meat Head gets in at least two fist a cuffs over taunting of red birds.
Brewers scare the crap out of me. I thought they would do better last year and it will be just the Cubs luck that they will come out like gang busters this year. The Reds will do what the Reds do. Look real scary for the first couple of months and then completely self destruct and fall apart. You will find more of there players at the Doctors office with the Cubs pitchers than at the park.
I hope we do make the play offs and hope of hopes go all the way but…
“Hope is not a strategy”
What I really want to see is Lou light a fire in these guys. When top pitching becomes available he kicks Hendry in the shins to grab it and spend some more of that Trib cash he must have stole and stuffed in his mattress.
Can Baseball start please!
Cubs Sox Sunday….is it time for a live blog smack down? I will be watchin will you?
Do I really have to wait til October to call you a douche bag?
The press is not the press it used to be. They don’t do great things anymore. They pick there sides and take there spoon fed leads like good little minions. Look at all the layoffs at the major news rags. People would rather go after sensational drivel and big bucks. Gone are the days of the hard smoking journalist who worked for peanuts cuz he/she thought they were making a difference. There are no more Woodward and Bernstein who will write a new generations “All the President's Men,”. Instead you have Katie Couric. I like Katie but hard hit journalist she ant and has the big dollar salary to prove it. You prolly get more truth through the blogosphere than you do actual watching the news/weather channel( Maybe it’s just a North Carolina thing. The news here is 50+% weather)
Taliban and Middle East, conspiracy theorist drivel. The terrorist are only wining because the government is allowing them to win. With everyone scarred to death of the boogie men in turbans. The upper class elite can scare the middle and lower class. Reap record profits, lay off costly middle management and force more people into service. They then can not offer support and right most of the vets off. Serve 5 years and lose a leg. Get a small portion of your grade at the time for disability unless you get a crappy job then get squat. Sever in congress or the senate for a term or two. Make 100K for the rest of you life curtsey of the tax payers. Can you imagine being the congress men for South Dakota or some other crap state. You prolly make more money than 99.9% of the people, RETIRED!
The government is either using the Middle East to scare the crap out of the masses, take liberties in the name of safety and secure more personnel wealth for a select few. Or again it maybe they know things we don’t and we need to keep sharp and practice. We spend way more than anyone else on Defense and the military. If there’s another WW over resources we need a well trained fighting force, right?
Did that Taliban guy who did the phone interview also blame the war in Iraq on Baba Booey?
These are the best comments ever posted on this shitty blog.
Men, you made my day.
