Do You Like This Shit Yes or No

Ditched out of work to organize my demos for Chris, Joe and Dev. I'm working on a note to go with this stuff. I'm going a little nuts without being in a band but I don't want any of those guys doing anything with these songs because they feel sorry for me, or doing it out of friendship, or good intentions.

We know where that road leads...

So I'll finish the note and describe what I'm trying to do in terms of recordings and playing a few shows, try to make everything easy to understand (cuz I'm not always good at communicating what I'm trying to do with a given project or cycle of songs or whatever you want to call it) an also, make it easy for them to say "no can't work on this stuff at this time" and move on.

dot org

NOT THAT!

Also did some writing today until the trick or treaters descended on us. This was the first year Alex was able to go out by himself. He went with his friend Luke down on the Point, then they picked our neighborhood dry. They made off with a good haul.

Trying to Avoid the Former

Friday Oct 28 Real Fun

Kim, Alex, Christopher and I went to see Real Steel after work/school. Fun to be out of work and at the movies by 4:10 on a Friday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised by a few parts and not surprised by most of the picture. Meh, the boys seemed to like it and that was fine by me.

Cards won the World Series and Tony LaR's face did not fall off...

I guess it doesn't matter that manager does not know when to do nothing, or he is so situation-ally stupid that normal idiots like me are laughing at the tv saying shit like, 'Why don't you go somewhere and let your face fall off before you outmaneuver your team out of its eleventh World Series title?!?!'

The Cardinals were good enough to survive the onset of their skipper's dementia, and I dare say the old douche has done more at the beginning of his dotage than I could hope to in the most lucid moments of my life. Yay for them, I guess.

Meanwhile poor Nolan Ryan looked like he wanted to throw up all over his fancy trench coat.

I know how he feels.

Saturday Oct 29 Trying to Avoid the Former

Wrote bills, cut some more branches and went shopping for Charlotte. I brought Kim so I wouldn't buy something horrific that would make Steener and Joe horrified to have it in their home and horrified that they know someone like me. The latter is probably already true, I'm just trying to avoid the former.

We bought my goddaughter a stuffed polar bear, a book for mom and dad to read to her at bedtime and a statue of the Blessed Virgin holding the little King.

NOT A BOTTLE OF LITTLE KINGS YA SACRILEGIOUS, HALF-DRUNK BASTARDS!

Did some writing and then the boy and I watched the Hawks stick it up Columbus' ass. Boy if there's one place on the earth that doesn't need to get it up the ass anymore than it already has it's Columbus, Ohio.

Sunday Oct 30 Blessed and Beautiful

Blessed and beautiful day. I busted out the suit, got my shit together and helped Joe, Steener and their family welcome Charlotte into our church. No former associates of mine were whacked during the ceremony...

...that you know of...

Mr. O'Brien brought a jug of Tullamore Dew and its attendant cheer and goodwill. Perfect party for me. I was able to catch up with Beth and Cathy - Joe's sisters rock - hang out with the Brovellis and then sit with the men and talk about World War II, football and the films (and war service) of Glen Ford while drinking whiskey.

Before I left, Mr. Brovelli said, "Well now, you are the godfather of our little granddaughter Charlotte. That means you're almost Italian."

What a sweet man. The Slovenians were only a few miles and hills away from being Northern Italian cool anyhow. Great day...God Bless you Charlotte. The world is a better place with you among us.

When the Difference Doesn't Matter

I made the mistake of telling someone that, as far as I can tell Kid Rock and Eminem are different ends of the same douche. Everyone around that conversation was stupefied and amazed by my...uh, stupidity for saying such a thing in public.

Years ago I said the same thing about Journey and Motley Crue. People were just as horrified and that statement proved to them I was a monkey ass that didn't know shit about music. People have been telling me I don't know shit about music for years. That may be true, but why bother finding the difference between things when the difference doesn't seem to matter all that much?

My Own Personal Reality Distortion

Poor KJ and Alex were locked out of the Rav this morning. The ladies up front let me know what was going on so I raced home from work. Our neighbor, the one I complained about the other day offered to drive them to school. They declined since I was already on my way home - - but see, who is the bitch?

Me, as usual.

Today seemed to last less than five minutes. Gave myself a week and a half to finish a project that should probably take a month. Let's see how "reality distortion" works for me.

A more important self-imposed deadline has given me justification for taking Monday off - - I won't get anything done at work with my head full of things that make it go dull so better to finish my project at home and try to keep the head clear. We'll see how it all turns out.

I Am Less

Dinner and drinks with friends at Twins tonight. I needed a belt after the day I had. My life isn't so hard but this is my little diary and it is better to bitch about things in here than subject people around me to listen as I drone on about petty problems.

Alex and I started working on baseball math tonight. We began with batting average then slugging percentage and why slugging percentage is a bit more descriptive than batting average, even though the old slugging percentage didn't include walks. The boy wants to use these new tools to calculate Babe Ruth's slugging percentage from 1920, his first year with the Yankees.

He loves Babe Ruth. My dad never saw the Babe play, I never saw the Babe play, certainly the boy never saw him play. But the Babe captures his imagine the way no other athlete, besides maybe Ali has. The NFL, as popular as it is will never have anything like Babe Ruth or the Yankees and their legends. Most folks are probably glad that's the case. I am not folks. My opinion is probably worth less, but what care I?

Love Thy Neighbor or Something

Cut some branches Friday and enjoyed a beautiful late afternoon/early evening. The only ruffle in my plans came in the form of my neighbors - a sweet, retired couple with clear opinions of how our trees should look. Those who know me know I don't give a shit for domestic aesthetics and I have even less time to deal with people telling me what to do.

I simply don't have time to do things I need to do, let alone take orders from my well-meaning neighbors. So the poor old neighbor dude comes across the street and says, "The boss wants me to come over and help you."

His wife is now standing on her driveway pointing at branches and hollering out instructions that her husband and I are to follow. Now they are both good people, better than me. I just haven't taken orders from an old woman standing in a driveway since I used to cut my grandmother's lawn. It was her lawn, she was paying me and she was my beloved Grandma V. It made all the sense in the world. This...not so much.

I don't think I clowned these good people too badly, but I am like a half hour away from Family Movie Night after working my ass off all week and I still had a ton of shit to do before I could sit down with my little crew, a movie, pizza, wings and a glass of brown liquor. Whatever the neighbor's wife's thoughts were, they were irrelevant to me and my life and the task now was, in as quick a manner as possible, dismiss them without being too much of an asshole.

The husband tried moving my ladder in accordance with his wife's wishes. I looked at him and gently shook my head and moved the ladder back to where I had it. The neighbor said, "She told me to come out here and help you." And my response was, in a quiet voice, "I can't have you go up there. I need to do what I planned to do all along."

The woman called from across the street, "No. It's ok. I told him to..."

I turned to her, raised my index finger to my lips and made the "Shhhh" motion.

The husband went back across the street and his wife went in the house. This is not a story about social morality or boundaries or being a good neighbor of respect for one's elders. I don't give a shit for any of that. This is a story of thanksgiving. I am so fucking thankful my wife would never give me orders like that. I am thankful that our life is nothing like theirs. My life would totally suck if I spent a minute of it taking orders for such stupid things. I am most thankful that I managed to rid myself of the problem without dropping a "dude" on the poor old bastard of an f-bomb on his well-meaning, busybody of a wife.

I raised a glass to them and their good intentions later.

Saturday Oct 22 Old Jelly jar

Kim suggested that I need to start drinking from smaller rocks glasses. The one glass of whiskey I consumed last night turned out to be almost a quarter of the bottle. Now this is a direction from my lady that I need. I cannot be accidentally drinking a quarter of a bottle of Jameson on Family Movie Night. That is not family time well spent and it is going to begin to impact the budget.

Yard work continued uninterrupted today. I'm a dick, but I'm going what I need to do. If we are honest with ourselves, isn't that what we all want out of life? I guess I'm not a very good example of what humans can or should want out of this life. My desires are few and my desire for human socialization, outside of a few dear friends and family members is pretty near nil...but I know for me on this score and that is something.

My I'm beginning to sound like a relativist in my old age. That's a stupid thing to be. I'm supposed to stand as an example of, at least Christian forbearance but I'm not there yet. I'm no longer at the stage where I tell people in no uncertain terms to fuck off, but that's about it. I'll have to try to keep improving from this point.

Went to Oak Forrest and saw Grandma Judi. She had a tough night but it was good to see her and Al. Brought storm windows from the shed to the deck for them. Now that's something I should do. Just move some shit and keep my damned mouth shut.

Thanks and much love to Al for the delicious pork roast. Drove back to DK late and resisted the urge to fill the big rocks glass and only drank a little whiskey out of a jelly jar while I edited some pages. Life is good.

Sunday Oct 23 Bangers and Mash and Shit

Bears take care of business against the Bucs, then hop on Bear Force One and fly home to a land where football matters.

Ok, I guess in the grand scheme of things football matters naught, but it matters less naught than in the land of bangers and mash.

NOT THAT YOU SICK BASTARDS!

Well, possibly that as I am not really sure what "bangers and mash" are.

Monday Oct 24

Found a reason to get interested in the World Series. I never liked Texas, the team, the state, the word itself, you name it and I don't like it...and in recent years I find that Tony LaRussa (who I used to admire greatly) makes my skin fucking crawl - - but over the weekend Albert Pujhols hit three home runs in a World Series game a feat only accomplished by Reggie Jackson and Babe Ruth before him.

Also it looks like, in spite of his slugger's best efforts, the Angry Redbird's manager seems determined to lose the World Series. More as events warrant...

Math, Mystery and Men

NOT THAT YOU SICK BASTARDS!

Saw Moneyball with Kim, Alex and Penny. We were all sufficiently entertained and, dare I say, blown away - ? I didn't remember the 20 game winning streak that became, for some, the most suspenseful part of the movie - - although I do remember those green and white clad bastards taking three in a row from my beloved WhiteSOX in August of 2002. Stupid West Coast road trips where the SOX usually suck.

I remember not believing in the Billy Bean method (at least as it applied to the Athletics at the turn of the new century)

They didn't even mention it in the film but those Oakland teams had Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder and Barry Zito and I think all of them were at or near the height of their pitching powers (at least I remember seeing them make the WhiteSOX look pretty damned stupid during those years) and they displayed said powers in a park that was and still is pitching friendly.

This is not a critique of the film. I loved it. This is not an indictment of Billy Beane and what his crew did for baseball. I respect their achievements even though I didn't totally understand what was going on at the time.

I work with a very smart man who once explained to me that all the Bill James guys did was try to ask questions and see if statistical models could be devised to explain certain things that happen in baseball. Those who employ elements of this approach in running a baseball team are doing what all good leaders of organizations do - try to gather as much information as possible, see how past practice jives with that and try to maximize the results from the team on the field considering the strengths and weaknesses of your organization and other possible constraints.

Having said all that, I loved the movie and Brad Pitt is cute.

If Hollywood wants to make a movie about Kenny Williams' front office and the moves they have made in most recent memory (the acquisition of and money spent on Peavy, Rios, Dunn, Edwin Jackson and Mark friggin' Tehan...not to mention the boundless wasted energy spent on struggles against Ozzie G and local media) a good title might be Doucheball.

Thursday Oct 20

Happy bDay to my sister out there, wherever she is. I know where she is, but I'm not telling.

Spending much time in prayer these days in an effort to quiet negative thoughts that creep into my brain. I was more successful than usual today, but not successful enough.

Working my way through the Luminous Mysteries and praying them for Charlotte. Joe's got a fantastic photo of that girl on his machine at work and it cracks me up every time I see it. She has this look on her face that seems to say, 'What the fuck is up with this crazy world?'

I couldn't agree more.

Transitional govt forces in Libya have helped former leader M. Gaddafi transition from living to dead.

I wonder who gets all the sunglasses?

Forced Solitude and Bigger Things

Came back to the outfit totally refreshed after a day of golf and writing. Amazing what being a deserter for one day does for a man. Yes.

I won't lie, part of what is restful to my mind is the solitude. It may turn out to be the case that I am not much of a writer, but the forced solitude to consider my own thoughts and try to make some sense of them is peaceful. I am free from judging the noisy opinions all around us so I can consider the many defects of my own.

Helped Alex work on his science notes. Bone structure, bone cells...important stuff like that. We had a few bad moments because he doesn't always like to take suggestions - but he likes to ask for help. I hollered at him when he rejected suggestions he asked for.

We worked it out...

...or maybe he will have to work it all out in therapy one day.

Watched the PBS presentation of Fr. Robert Barron's Catholicism on On Demand. Fantastic. Fr. B is not afraid of the weirdness and radicalism of Christ. My reaction, as always, surprise and love for Christ.

By the way, anyone interested in following more edits from my old journals and mock me through space and time can go to the address below

http://ajustedmusic.blogspot.com/

It includes the stuff published on this blog in 2009 and keeps going from there.

The full title is This is Not a Memoir; This is Where the Bridge Falls Into the River.

Feel free to criticize, sue, call me a lying bitch...whatever needs to be done.

Bliss Creek

Friday Oct 14

Perfect end to a great week. Thanks to our hr person for helping me untangle all the things that needed to be untangled. In the end, it was all worth it. How often can you say that in this life?

Left work at 3:30pm and was home doing some writing. Kim called from Alex's favorite junk store in DK and said, "They have several Star Trek TNG characters here, dirt cheap. What should I do?"

Maybe this is bad parenting or whatever but I said, "Get them. Get all of them. It's been a good week."

Watched Star Trek and then a documentary on the War of 1812 with my little crew.

Sat Oct 15

Chris and I golfed Bliss Creek today. Absolutely beautiful out there, and the geese on the course quickly learned we were bad ball hitting motherfuckers who were not to be trifled with... - -- ?

Hung out at the clubhouse had a delicious Old Fashioned and some poppers with my old pal. Nice time as we talked about the joys and perils of being adults in this, our modern gutter culture.

Ok, Chris B didn't refer to it as "our modern gutter culture" - - terms such as that are reserved for douchebags like me. Very special douchebags. I'm VSD.

I think I had the Seven Year VSD, but a scratched real fast and got rid of it in 17 months.

Sorry poor dead Lou Costello.

Got back from Sugar Grove in time for my date with the lovely Kimberly Jo. Thanks and much love to Brandon, Chad and Chris for coming out to hang with Alex while Kim and I enjoyed a steak and whiskey at Johnny's. Did I mention it was a good week?

Ran into Swaffords. They are not going to be able to go see Moneyball on Wed. Oh poop. Well, KJ still wants to go so that's a good thing.

Sunday Oct 16 Tell Martz I said Fuck Him!

8am Mass with the little crew then took Alex to Religious Ed. The boy and I had our feast while Kim went to a birthday party for a grown up. I don't judge people and how they live their lives or what they value since mine are so weird - - but thanks and much love to Kim for understanding that I'm no good at those things. I'm too old, too weird, and have too many problems with booze and human social interactions for that kind of thing.

I pray the rosary every day that I may be granted the gift of being able to see God in everyone at all times and act accordingly....but there's a long way to go before I am even pleasant company.

Jay Cutler is now my favorite quarterback of all time. He's not the best, not the smartest and certainly not the most fan friendly...but during the Sunday Nite game, after the Bears had a great deal of success running the ball and using shorter, quicker drops and releases in the passing game where I'm sure the Bears offensive coordinator called one of his exotic sequences of blocking schemes and routes from his creepy little ivory tower overlooking the playing field...when the QB coach relayed and repeated this nonsense to the Bears' field general at first there was a disgusted look on his face (almost indistinguishable from the look Cutler always has, but the careful observer notes the difference), then Jay screams at the hapless messenger, "And tell Martz I said 'Fuck him!'"

Monday Oct 17 His Good Earth

Worked from 7am to 9am. Cleared shit off my desk, then left for 6hrs of scheduled vaycay time. I don't know if the time is well-deserved but it was certainly well worth it. Gorgeous day on River Heights. There was a moment as I walked past tall, brown corn waiting to be harvested w/ the expanse of robin egg blue sky above where I thought this life has been such an incredible gift that were the Lord to take me right now I'd be fine with that.

Glad he didn't. I want to spend many years with my beautiful wife, see our son grow up and maybe have children of his own - - - but I am so grateful for the days God has already given me on His good earth.

Everyone Will Be Immortal for Fifteen Minutes

Some hanky (and possibly even some panky) going on with the Theo deal. I won't speculate. I'll leave that to the professional speculators.

Worked with Alex on spelling after school. Spelling and reading are his least favorite subjects. He's working his ass off at both. Here's hoping he pulls off A+s on back to back weeks. Hey even if he gets a B this week and comes back strong next week (the Grover Cleveland, non-consecutive A+s) I'll be happy for him.

Let the boy stay up later than usual to catch the Hawk game. Winnepeg Jets Redux came to town with a few former Hawks on the roster. I love watching hockey. I have nary a clue as to what is going on out there on the ice...I'm just like, "Look at them go!"

Finally, re-reading Max Tegmark for the first time in years. I've come to the conclusion that in the future, everyone will be immortal for fifteen minutes.

His Name Is Theo

Nothing official yet, but it looks like Theo E (no relation to Shelia E) is going to be the next GM of the Chicago Cubs. This does not guarantee the Cubs the World Series or even the same kinds of successful seasons the Red Sox had during Mr. Epstein's tenure.

What it does is it brings the North Side Club into the 21t Century, into the world of big boy baseball. I applaud Ricketts for taking this chance and plan to watch with great interest.

Baseball does not mean much in the grand scheme of things but it is the one public soap opera in the gutter culture that captures my attention. The smart people can be really smart and millions of dollars, triumph, failure and over a hundred years of history can hang in the balance. This is going to be a great story no matter what happens because so much is at stake.

It was terrible what became of Hendry. He threw bad money after worse. Whether he was prompted to do so by elements of the Trib, and then later Zell who wanted to drive up the team's price is a mystery to me. I'd like to believe the last of the old scouts was not that stupid.

But maybe he was.

I admit I hoped that the money paid out to Zambrano, Sorriano, Aramis Ramirez, Ryan Dempster, Koske Fukudome, and Milton Bradley would not lead to the cubs winning it all...not because I hate the cubs, but I hated those free agent signings. I think that Theo will combine a tear down/building up period of the farm system with acquiring free agents in an effort to succeed the way he and Larry L did in Boston.

Yes I know that at the heart of that Red Sox lineup were Juicy and Super Juicy guys (Manny and Big P) but Theo and his guys helped develop players that have led to the Red Sox continued success. Should he do this for the cubs he will try to succeed nobly, to do what Ricketts promised...building from within...and should he fail, he will fail nobly trying to build a winner in Chicago baseball.

Which is better than what Hendry did, he failed basely and would have succeeded basely if overpaid and overvalued Dempster, Sorriano, Ramirez and the rest of that junk led to a title and were remembered forever as baseball heroes in this town.

Yuck.

And should the Cubs have success with this rebuild, maybe the team I love would take some cues from this...of course it will take several years for the SOX of White to dig out from bad contracts given to Rios, Peavy, Dunn etc...

But the baseball fan constantly carries hope in a bucket, although sometimes they have to carry a bucket of shit along with it.

Good luck north side fans.

Walk Like a Mangione

A group of protesters decided to occupy Rockford yesterday.

Yes, that Rockford.

Apparently they want equal numbers of rich, poor and middle class people stabbed, robbed or randomly stomped when they leave Kryptonite at 2am or later.

These protesters marched (quickly) through the downtown and then stopped to demonstrate in front of the one bank still open in the City of...Rocks.

Unfortunately, it was a food bank.

Alex and Blake built a pair of lungs in science today.

NOT THAT YOU SICK BASTARDS!

The boy worked on science and social studies tonight. Then he went to his trumpet lesson. Garth let him try a flugelhorn an now my kid wants one.

Damn you Chuck Mangione!

Bears Down

Bear game confirmed what I should've known for awhile - Lovie Smith's chance to make this iteration of the Chicago Bears world champions ended when he won the coin toss and deferred in last January's NFC Championship game against the Packers. In that one fateful/dumbass decision, the careful observer sees everything wrong with this very nice man being head coach of the NFL's landmark franchise.

- He didn't give the team's most explosive player to touch the ball first

- He willingly gave the ball to the other team's best player

- He trusted his defense and the other team's best player shoved it down their throats during the most meaningful possessions of the game

- When it's all over Lovie seemed to find some measure of pride in saying how close the team was to going to the Super Bowl

Disgusting

There was a moment after a big play by the Lions that made the Bears D look utterly helpless...after the Lions scored and kicked it to the Bears a camera found Lance Briggs on the sideline with his head in his hands and Urlacher was trying to say something to him. That's the exact moment when I knew the effectiveness of Lovie's coaching regime was over.

...and he's in Chicago until 2013

A Weekend to Remember, I Think

Thursday Oct 6

Saw Drive with Bill Garver tonight. It combined some of the very few elements of films from the 80's that I liked - and it was creepy.

Maybe the creepy part was what reminded me of the 80's. I forget. The 80's were creepy, or maybe that was just me.

I was definitely creepy in the 80's...and now today, more than ever.

Noticed that in the wake of the "occupy Wall St" movement there's an "occupy Chicago" movement beginning to float around on the Internet. Demonstrations are fine and I think there is some degree of patriotism in all that, sometimes things even get accomplished...

...but I hope the dungarees don't ruin the last fair weather days of the fall milling about the best fair weather city in the world as part of the other 99%.

If you really believe standing about in front of douchebags in suits as they make their way to do douchebag things you don't like is going to change things, please wait until these last beautiful days pass.

There will still be economic injustice in November.

Friday Oct 7

Tons of product came in from MN and I checked 'n tested the hell out of it. A few things needed to go back, but good results for the most part. Busy day, and these days, busy days are good.

Shopping for Kim's chili, then our family movie night feature was Part I of the Burns prohibition doc.

Sat Oct 8

Got up early. The boy and I drove to Lockport and went on a four mile hike with my p's. Absolutely gorgeous day. Lots of leaf peepin' and bird spottin'

That almost sounds like a Doc Pomus line...but then, not really.

Came home and found out why allergy medicine and 1/2 bottle of Jameson make for dangerous company...even among the nicest of company.

Sunday Oct 9

My faith in humanity has never been higher (or is it greater?). Everyone accepted my apologies and all were very nice about the screaming and berating. If I had to spend last evening with someone like me, I'd've punched that fucking me in the fucking face. But Kim's friends are decent and wonderful. Thanks and much love to them.

Picked up Alex from his overnight and drove him to religious ed. Boogied out to the studio and demoed four new songs. Came home, chilled, watched the Brewers win, went to confession and then a late Mass.

Thank you God for this life and thank you friends for your kindness and understanding.

Too Late or Too Soon

If only someone could've developed pancreas app.

Sorry

Could not see Drive with WTG tonight. We'll give it a shot tomorrow (or take a stab at it, if you will). I want to see an existential action flick in an 80's noir style with an evil Albert Brooks while it's still in theaters. Is that so wrong?

Great news on the rock 'n roll front - after some scheduling issues and a little back and forth I found an extra forty bucks and a day that I can work on demos in Elgin.

Sunday - no Bear game but I get to fight my bullshit ennui one song at a time.

It's a perfect plan.

Nice in No Sense of the Word

Training of the new guy continues at work. He seems nice. Let's face it, who isn't nice compared to me? I'd be fucking insulted if anyone called me nice...unless they meant it in the older sense of the word - "nice" as "precise". Then I'd think the person was an idiot because precision ain't my forte, Matt.

Wha?

Trying to convince Bill Garver to see Drive with me this week. He's sick. Poor guy. We'll see what happens. Also, even though it may be financially unwise to do so this week, I am trying to book a recording session. The guy is good and the money is right, I just have had a shitload of bills come up recently.

But if I don't start doing demos and at least trying to put something together soon I am going to go out of my fucking mind. More importantly, the other writing suffers when I am not working on music with collaborators. Being in a band is a release valve for ideas that aren't for the other stuff but still worth doing. Doing them with other musicians make those ideas satisfying and usually better.

Accidental Soul Patch

Let my beard grow too long going into the weekend. Shaved on Sunday but didn't notice until I got to work that I missed a spot under my lower lip. I have to spend the next couple of days training the new guy at work.

He's gonna think I'm a tool...

A bigger tool.

Semi-Booze Free Turnaround

Friday Sept 30

Took an extended break earlier in the day to let Maury work his magic on our pipes.

NOT THAT YOU SICK BASTARDS!

Please, the man is a local legend (and he gives me a break when I pay in cash.

$361 later and our problems were no more. Well there were no plumbing problems. I'd like to find a way to replace the money shelled out this week on car and home repairs.

$700 out the door on shit I already own...I guess that's part of being a grown up. Damn.

Family movie night was the American Experience episode featuring Seabiscuit. We need a fucked up horse to inspire us during our current depression. The best we have is Sarah Jessica Parker.

I think it was Tony Kornheiser who once said of Ms. Jessica Parker, "I don't like that horse-faced toilet-mouth."

Tony might be on to something. Nobody loves a horse-faced toilet mouth. Except for Matthew Broderick.

Sat Oct 1

Ran errands and felt like shit most of the day. Glad this weekend is going to be quiet. Lots of fun last weekend but I need to consume zero drinks for the rest of this weekend and reclaim some part of my head.

Kim and Alex went to the South Side, I stayed back to work on bills and do some errands for my lady. Also did major editing on TINAM. My reward for doing all this whilst sick...Chinger and baseball on the tv

Sunday Oct 2

Bears have a rough go of it but eventually take care of Captn War Eagle and his crazy running and passing Carolina Panthers. Bears' special teams were great - - Forte did a fine job running the ball and taking advantage of everything the Carolina D gave him. The defense was gashed for big plays at times, but held fast when they had to...

Then there was the Bears' passing game...

Wrote for a few hours before the game. Very satisfying. Re-edited a lot of stuff from the original "Black Screamiong Death" entry from way back when.

It's sad this part of the project is ending. It's nice to remember friends and stuff from all those years ago.

Then there's remembering myself from that time - -

Yuck.

In defense of me from the past, I'm not much better now.
